Editorial policy
We want every Footyaro story to be accurate, clear and useful. This page explains how our stories are made and checked.
Our standards
- We report facts. Transfer talk and rumours are labelled as such, never presented as confirmed.
- We write in plain British English and keep stories short and to the point.
- Sponsored content, if we ever publish any, will always be clearly labelled. Betting odds are shown for information only.
How AI assists our desk
- Footyaro uses AI writing tools to help draft some stories, including match previews, match reports and translations.
- The tools work only from facts we give them: the scores, goals, cards, line-ups, tables and statistics in our match data, or the facts of a news story we are covering. Some news stories start from reports published elsewhere; we write them in our own words and do not copy them.
- The Footyaro Editorial Team sets the rules the tools follow and reviews published stories regularly.
Fact checks
- Before a draft can be published, automated checks compare it with our data. A draft is rejected if it changes a score or any other number, adds a number that is not in our data, invents a quote, or gets a team, player or competition name wrong.
- Previews and reports are only written when we hold enough data. If the data is thin, nothing is published.
- Translations are checked against the English story in the same way. A translation that fails the checks is not published.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it quickly. Read our corrections policy, or email [email protected] with the link and what should change.
